Cyclizine For Anxiety; I was prescribed this for anxiety and its been working really well for me. I feel much calmer and less anxious most of the time, but it does make me a bit sleepy in the afternoons, I cant seem to keep my eyes open. Sometimes its not strong enough, and that’s when I end up taking a diazapan. I wondered if anyone else has tried this??
Cyclizine is widely used in the treatment of nausea and vomiting and has been shown to be effective in motion sickness.
Cyclizine’s antiemetic properties have caused it to be used as an adjunct to general anaesthesia, particularly in gynaecological procedures necessitating a lithotomy position. Its drowsiness-inducing effects are exploited in its use as a premedication.
Cyclizine is also used as a sedation antihistamine for dogs, cats and horses, because of its strong antiemetic properties.
A case of cyclizine poisoning has been reported in the UK.
Cyclizine, sold under a variety of brand names, is a medication used to treat and prevent nausea, vomiting and dizziness due to motion sickness or vertigo. It is also sometimes used for the treatment of opioid induced constipation.
Onset typically begins within half an hour and lasts for up to three hours.
Cyclizine is used to treat and prevent nausea, vomiting and vertigo (dizziness). It’s particularly useful for preventing travel sickness.
Cyclizine is also used to ease symptoms of an inner ear infection, which can cause dizziness and a spinning sensation (vertigo).
Cyclizine is known as a sedating antihistamine, but it also has antimuscarinic properties. This means it works by blocking the action of a chemical called acetylcholine in your brain. This stops the part of your brain that causes you to feel sick or be sick (vomit) from working properly. It also blocks the action of acetylcholine in other parts of your body, such as your inner ear, which may help reduce dizziness.
Cyclizine hydrochloride is a drug of the anticholinergic class. It is used to treat and prevent nausea, vomiting and dizziness due to motion sickness or vertigo.
Cyclizine belongs to the antihistamine family of drugs, but unlike most antihistamines, it does not cause drowsiness. It works by blocking the action of a chemical messenger in the brain, which is responsible for the symptoms of nausea, vomiting and dizziness.
The brand name for cyclizine is Valoid.
Can Anti Sickness Tablets Help With Anxiety?

Not really. I used to take the old style anti-sickness tablets (like Stemetil or Buccastem) and they did seem to help with anxiety but the new ones don’t seem to have the same effect. They can make you feel drowsy but that’s about it for me.
I also used to take them for nausea as well as anxiety but I think that was just a coincidence, I have had lots of different medications over the years and none of them helped my nausea.
I have been having anxiety issues lately and my doctor has prescribed me anti sickness tablets to help. Does anyone know anything about these? How they work, side effects etc.
Hi,
I feel like i have tried all the anti depressants and anti anxiety tablets but nothing seems to work. My doctor has prescribed me sertraline and propranolol (sp?) so i can take them together but i am still very anxious in social situations. I am even starting to get anxious being around my family which is ridiculous.
I read that one of the side effects of some anti sickness tablets is reduced anxiety. So I am wondering if it is worth trying these?
I really don’t want to be on tablets for the rest of my life if they are not going to work.
Has anyone else had any experience with this?
Anti-sickness drugs are not recommended for the treatment of anxiety. If you think you may be suffering from anxiety, we strongly recommend that you see your GP. Read more about how to get help for anxiety.
The anti-sickness drug metoclopramide (brand name Maxolon) is sometimes used off-licence to treat anxiety. However, there is no firm evidence that it is effective for this and it can have serious side effects, including depression, involuntary muscle movements and a condition known as tardive dyskinesia (difficulty controlling muscles).
A medicine called buspirone (brand names Buspar, Ansial, Ansiced, Anxiron, Axoren, Bespar, BuSpar and Buspimen) is approved for the treatment of anxiety in many countries. However, it cannot currently be prescribed on the NHS in England and Wales because the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) has not approved it as a cost-effective treatment. Check with your doctor whether buspirone is available in your area on prescription.
It is also important to know that when anti-sickness medication are used for treatment of anxiety and related conditions, they are usually combined with other medications. The most common combination is with SSRIs (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors). These medications can be used for the following:
Panic disorder (such as Xanax )
Generalized anxiety disorder (such as Valium)
Social anxiety disorder (such as Klonopin)
Obsessive-compulsive disorder (such as Zoloft)
Post-traumatic stress disorder (such as Prozac)
If you have severe anxiety, nausea and dizziness may be symptoms of your anxiety. But if you are suffering these symptoms as well as vomiting, it could be something else.
The best thing to do is see your doctor and ask for some anti-sickness medication.

Does Cyclizine Relax?

Cyclizine is an antihistamine that reduces the effects of natural chemical histamine in the body. Histamine can produce symptoms of sneezing, itching, watery eyes, and runny nose. Cyclizine is used to treat or prevent nausea, vomiting, and dizziness caused by motion sickness.

Cyclizine is an antihistamine and anticholinergic medication used to treat and prevent nausea, vomiting, and dizziness caused by motion sickness. It is also useful in treating nausea and vomiting after general anaesthesia or surgery, and in the treatment of vertigo (dizziness).
Cyclizine has been reported as a useful adjunct to benzodiazepines for the treatment of acute alcohol withdrawal syndrome. It is thought that this may be due to its direct action on GABA receptors, which are also affected by benzodiazepines.
It is also used in the treatment of labyrinthitis, Ménière’s disease, ethanol intoxication, radiation sickness and post-operative nausea. Cyclizine can be used both orally, or intravenously.
Cyclizine (trade name Valoid, Marezine) is an antihistamine of the diphenylmethylpiperazine group considered to be an antiemetic. It was originally used in Europe in 1955 as an antihistamine, but it was soon discovered that it was also effective in reducing nausea and vertigo. Cyclizine is often given to patients in combination with morphine or codeine to combat the nausea and vomiting associated with their use.
It is a potent anticholinergic and has a central nervous system depressant effect, and is used as an antiemetic to treat motion sickness; it has a fairly sedating side effect profile, due to its effects on the histaminergic system and thus can also be used as a sedative.
Cyclizine is used to treat and prevent nausea, vomiting and dizziness caused by motion sickness or vertigo. Cyclizine is also used to reduce feelings of sickness (vertigo) in people with a condition called Ménière’s disease. Cyclizine can also be taken to relieve travel sickness.
Cyclizine will make you feel sleepy, so don’t drive, ride a bike or operate machinery until you know how it affects you. Don’t drink alcohol while taking cyclizine as this will make you feel even sleepier.
Cyclizine is a medicine used to treat and prevent nausea and vomiting. It is often given to people who are sick from a condition called vertigo, which causes dizziness and disorientation. It may also be prescribed for motion sickness, as it can help relieve feelings of tension, anxiety and restlessness.
Cyclizine does not cure conditions like vertigo or motion sickness, but it can help manage the symptoms. Vertigo is a condition that affects how you balance. It is caused by problems with the inner ear and can cause you to feel nauseous or unsteady.
It works by blocking the effects of histamine in the brain, which helps to relieve dizziness, nausea and vomiting.
