Brugal Leyenda

I was in República Dominicana and I tasted this rum at the Brugal Leyenda factory.

I had a very good time there, they showed me how they work, and they gave me some bottles to take back in France.

This rum is so good !

Brugal Leyenda is a tribute to Angel at Brugal and his family. Every time I hear this rum, I think of my first trip to the Dominican Republic. I was so happy to find a rum that I could drink without feeling guilty — especially when it’s made in the Caribbean! It’s an easy drinking rum that’s not too sweet or strong. The flavor is very clean, with hints of vanilla and nuts. This is a great rum for mixing with cocktails.

It has a deep amber color with a hint of red, due to its high alcoholic content (43% ABV). Its taste is slightly sweet and smooth, with notes of wood and oak. It tastes like it came from the Dominican Republic, which is known for its great rums!

The bottle design is beautiful, with a wood cap and cork stopper. The label on the front says “Brugal Leyenda“, which is Spanish for “legend”. The word “leyenda” also means “legend” in English, but this one translates as “legend” in Spanish.

If you love rum, try this one. I am not a rum fan and I loved it. Brugal Leyenda is a sipping rum that you can enjoy neat or on the rocks. It is smooth and has no bite. The finish is long and sweet.

The best rum I’ve ever tasted, it’s just an incredible drink, highly recommended.

I’ve only been drinking rum for a year or so. I have tried both Bacardi and Don Q, but I am not impressed by those. This is my first time trying Brugal. The Brugal Legend has a good balance of sweet and spicy. It’s very smooth and enjoyable to drink from the bottle or with a mixer (I like CHERRY coke!). It has a nice warm feeling as it goes down without being too strong. I was hoping for something more distinct/unique, but I would say this is your average moderate quality rum.

Absolutely loved this rum. Had it several times while in Punta Cana and am very sad we can’t get it here in the states. The only thing I wish they would have done was end it with a zero proof!!

Aged in American oak casks for three years, and aged in Sherry Spanish oak casks for another year. Full-bodied, with a complex aroma of honey, raisins, brown sugar and vanilla. Slightly woody with a long finish.

I’m not usually a fan of rum but this was great. Smooth with just the right amount of sweetness that doesn’t overwhelm the flavors.

Taste: 8.0/10

The nose is moderately strong, with a lot of alcohol, vanilla, sugar and caramel. There are also some spices, chocolate and oak. The palate is thick and oily, well balanced and easy to drink. The finish is long with a lot of vanilla and wood.

Brugal Extra Viejo Rum is one of the finest rums in the world: it has a deep amber colour, with refined notes of cinnamon, orange peel and vanilla that give this rum its unique character. The aging process allows for a smoothness and balance that is only found in the best aged rums.

Brugal Leyenda Tasting Notes

Brugal Leyenda Tasting Notes

Nose: Vanilla, citrus zest, mild spices (cinnamon & pepper)

Palate: Smooth entry; full-bodied; very complex with notes of caramelized nuts & brown sugar; long-lasting finish.

This rum is a favourite of those who enjoy the smooth character of Speyside single malt scotch or Cognac.

Aged a minimum of 8 years in ex-bourbon barrels, it is then finished in ex-Pedro Ximénez sherry casks. The result is a spirit that is both light and deep, with delicate notes of vanilla and a full-bodied finish. Don’t let the amber color give you the wrong idea. This isn’t an overly sweet rum, but it has enough heft to please whiskey lovers who are looking for something different.

I was gifted a bottle of this by a friend and I love it. I’m not usually a rum drinker and prefer scotch, but the Brugal Leyenda has become one of my favorites. It reminds me a lot of scotch, but with more caramel notes than I usually find in Scotch. It’s very smooth and sipping it neat is a pleasure.

I’ve heard some people say they don’t like the finish, but I didn’t find it objectionable at all.

The nose:

Wet wood, sea-salt, and brown sugar with a hint of vanilla.

The taste:

A nice initial burn on the tongue, with honey and vanilla. It has a really smooth finish and that is why I give it 4 stars instead of 5. I will definitely buy this again because at $11.99 it is a steal; it’s not the best rum I’ve ever had but it’s definitely worth more than the price.

I love it. I had the 1783 and 1888 versions. This is my favorite. So smooth and tasty you can drink it straight from the glass.

I had a chance to taste this rum. Very enjoyable and complex. I would recommend it to everybody who is interested in rums. Nose is excelent , notes of caramel, oak barrels and dried fruits. In taste dried friuts and sweetness dominate. I really like it a lot. Problem is that Leyenda almost disappeared in all local stores. For a little while or for ever ?

Everybody knows story about Ron Zacapa 23 white and black label. Leyenda could be a similar event.

Brugal Leyenda is a unique blend of rums that has been very carefully selected by our Maestros Roneros. Aged in American white oak barrels, this rum is a tribute to Don Andrés Brugal, who founded the Company in 1888.

Brugal Leyenda is a rare blend of rums, aged for up to 30 years. These are the finest and most precious blends from our reserve. A careful selection process was undertaken by our Maestros Roneros to create a spirit that stands out for its rich and smooth aromas and its long lasting finish. Distilled from sugar cane molasses, Brugal Leyenda is aged in American white oak barrels and bottled at 40% alcohol by volume (ABV).

The result is a highly sophisticated rum with a complex yet delicate flavour that must be sipped slowly to fully appreciate its intense aromas and subtle nuances. Its golden amber colour reveals an aroma reminiscent of vanilla, chocolate and coffee complemented by notes of caramel, dried fruits and nuts. On the palate it has hints of dried fruits, honey and vanilla with a long lasting creaminess on the mouth. It has a very long finish with hints of cinnamon and oak wood.

This rum was created with great care over

Very good rum. Just like all Brugal rums. Those guys definitely know what they are doing. I believe they use pot stills in their distillation instead of column stills that you see in most of big rum brands.
