Wordle is a toy. It’s not designed to be a serious analysis tool. There are no built-in filters, so you can’t say “show me words that occur more often than 5 times in this document” or anything like that.

If you want to do that, I would suggest using Word2vec. The output can be used as input to Wordle, but the output isn’t really comparable to Wordle’s output.

You could also try using TextBlob, which has some text analysis features built in (including word frequency).

There are probably other tools out there as well — these are just the ones that came immediately to mind

Baseball fans love seeing home runs hit by their favorite players, so they’re not surprised to see them at number one. What percentage of MLB are Dominican?

The answer depends on how you define “Dominican.”

The Dominican Republic has the third-highest population in the Caribbean, behind Cuba and Puerto Rico. But when we talk about Dominicans in Major League Baseball, we’re talking only about those who were born in the country.

Census data show that there are roughly 2 million people of Dominican descent living in the United States, including an estimated 1.3 million who are eligible to play professionally. In 2017, there were 321 Dominican-born players on MLB rosters — a 5 percent increase over 2016.

Of those 321 players, more than half (152) were born outside the United States. That means that more than 100 players were born in the Dominican Republic even though they have no connection to the country other than being born there.

Dominicans make up about 25 percent of the MLB.

According to the most recent data from MLB, there were 1,859 players in the majors at the end of the 2016 season. Of those players, 719 (or 36 percent) were born in a country other than the United States. That includes Puerto Rico and Canada.

Of those 719 foreign-born players, 241 (or 33 percent) were Dominican. That means that Dominicans made up about 25 percent of all non-American players in Major League Baseball last year.

According to Baseball-Reference, there are approximately 2,200 players in the Major Leagues right now. Of those, 31% are Dominican.

Of the 30 teams in MLB, 20 have at least one Dominican player on their roster. The Cubs have the most Dominicans with five: Javier Baez, Willson Contreras, Eloy Jimenez, Albert Almora Jr. and Manny Machado. The A’s have the fewest with one: Ramon Laureano.

In 2017, according to Baseball Reference, there were 4,730 players on active rosters, disabled lists and restricted lists. Of those, 1,438 (31%) were born in the Dominican Republic.

That’s not a lot by itself. But here’s something that might surprise you: The D-R is the second-smallest country in MLB by birth percentage, behind only Venezuela. And yet it has the highest number of players in MLB — by far.

Here’s another interesting fact: The Dominican Republic also has the highest percentage of major leaguers born outside the U.S., at 82%. Venezuela is second at 67%.

The number of Mexican players in Major League Baseball increased by more than 50 percent between 2012 and 2016, according to a study by the Institute for Diversity and Ethics in Sport (TIDES) at the University of Central Florida.

According to TIDES, there were 70 Mexican-born players on MLB rosters at the start of last season, up from 43 in 2011. That trend is expected to continue as MLB teams continue to invest in youth baseball academies across Mexico. The Cubs’ academy in Boca Chica, home of former big leaguer Sammy Sosa, has produced 15 current major leaguers.

The National League has 15 teams: Atlanta Braves, Cincinnati Reds (formerly Redlegs), Colorado Rockies (formerly Rox), Miami Marlins (formerly Florida Marlins), Milwaukee Brewers (formerly Brewers), New York Mets (formerly Metropolitans), Philadelphia Phillies, Pittsburgh Pirates (formerly Alleghenys), St. Louis Cardinals (formerly Browns) and San Diego Padres (formerly Padres).

Major League Baseball (MLB) is the highest level of professional baseball in the United States and Canada, consisting of teams that play in the National League and the American League. MLB is divided into two leagues, each with three divisions, except in the rare event that a team plays in one of two conferences formed by geographical proximity.
