Juvederm Lips Before and After

Juvederm Lips Before and After; the lips are comprised of a wide range of tissues such as: mucous membranes, salivary glands and muscles. Some people have naturally full, plump lips and others do not. Lips that are thin or that have lost volume over the years can cause people to look older than they really are. People who want to regain their youthful appearance may benefit from treatments like Juvederm for lips.

What is Juvederm?

Juvederm is a hyaluronic acid filler that is injected into the skin. Hyaluronic acid is an ingredient that occurs naturally in the body. It gives skin its youthful appearance by trapping moisture and keeping skin hydrated and firm. As people age, their hyaluronic acid levels decrease, which causes the skin to become dryer and more susceptible to wrinkles. When Juvederm is injected into the lips, it adds volume to the tissue so that it appears fuller and plumper. In addition, Juvederm also helps keep lips hydrated so they do not crack or chap easily.

The Benefits of Juvederm for Lips

Juvederm for lips offers many benefits for patients seeking a more youthful appearance. Some of these benefits include:

Smooths out fine lines around the mouth

Juvederm is an injectable filler that is used in the lips for lip enhancement. Juvederm is a very efficient and safe method of adding volume to the lips. The results of Juvederm are immediate and you can go home right after the procedure. There is no down time, so you can return to work immediately afterwards.

How long do the results last?

The length of time that Juvederm lasts in the lips depends upon many factors including how much was injected, where it was injected, how fast your body metabolizes it, how active you are, and how mobile your lips are. Generally speaking, Juvederm lasts 6-9 months in the lips.

What does treatment with Juvederm involve?

The procedure takes about 30 minutes to perform. The filler is injected through a tiny needle into specific areas of the face to lift wrinkles and folds and enhance facial contours. Sculptra Aesthetic can be used virtually anywhere on the face that shows signs of aging or loss of fullness including laugh lines (nasolabial folds), parentheses (marionette lines), chin wrinkles (pre-jowl folds) and cheeks.

I’m the one who doesn’t put fillers in my lips. It’s not that I don’t like them, and it’s not that I think they don’t look good (although I do fully acknowledge there is such a thing as overdoing it). It’s just that I never had a desire for big, plump lips — or rather, I never had a desire for big, plump lips until about two months ago.

One of the many perks of working at Allure is that we get to try out beauty treatments before they become popular. In February, we got to try out Lip Sculpting by Skinney Med Spa. And while the idea of having fillers in my lips was still off-putting to me, there was something about the process that made me feel comfortable enough to give it a shot.

So I scheduled an appointment with Melissa Doft, MD, at her private practice on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. The appointment was quick: Dr. Doft started by numbing my lips with cream and letting it sit for 15 minutes. Then she injected Juvederm Ultra XC into my lip line and outer edges of my lips using a cannula

Juvederm is a popular brand of injectable fillers. It’s used to decrease the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles around your mouth, nose and cheeks.

Injectable fillers like Juvederm are made of hyaluronic acid. This is a naturally occurring substance in your skin that helps add volume and hydration. Juvederm is also formulated with lidocaine, a local anesthetic, to help reduce pain during treatment.

Juvederm is available in several different formulas:

Juvederm XC: This product adds fullness to facial tissue and restores volume loss due to aging.

Juvederm Ultra XC: This product adds fullness to lips and reduces the appearance of wrinkles around the mouth.

Juvederm Voluma XC: This product provides long-term correction for age-related volume loss in your cheek area

Juvederm is a smooth consistency gel made of hyaluronic acid — a naturally occurring substance in your skin that helps to add volume and hydration. Your healthcare professional eases Juvederm injectable gel under the skin to instantly restore your skin’s volume and smooth away facial wrinkles and folds, like your “smile lines” or “parentheses” (nasolabial folds — the creases that run from the bottom of your nose to the corners of your mouth). With just one treatment, you’ll get smooth and natural-looking results that last up to a year.

Juvederm is manufactured using HYLACROSS™ technology, creating a smooth-consistency gel. It is infused with lidocaine to improve comfort during treatment. With Juvederm dermal filler injections, there’s minimal recovery or downtime. So you can step into your doctor’s office for treatment and step right back into your life.

Juvederm is proven safe and effective through five years of clinical studies. In fact, it was the first FDA approved product shown to last up to one year with only one treatment.*

In multiple clinical studies, subjects reported looking 5 years younger after 1 year

The lips are one of the most delicate areas of your face, and therefore a little more difficult to treat. As mentioned above, the number of filler treatments you may need varies from person to person but most people will require 1-3 treatments, with a top up around every 6 months. At Skinstation, we offer Juvéderm® in 0.5ml and 1ml syringes. The treatment takes just 30 minutes and is a great way to plump up your pout without going under the knife!

Juvederm is a dermal filler made of hyaluronic acid, which is a naturally occurring, water-loving substance found in your body.

Juvederm has several different formulations that are used to address various issues. In the lips, Juvéderm Ultra XC and Juvéderm Volbella XC are most commonly used. Both of these fillers have been approved for lip augmentation.

Juvéderm is injected directly into the lips or into the fine lines around the mouth to give you fuller lips. It can also help smooth out vertical lines around the mouth that can make you look older.

How long does Juvederm last in lips?

The effects of Juvéderm usually last about 6 months to a year, although this does vary from person to person. As with any cosmetic injectable, touch-up treatments may be needed to maintain the desired effects.

The Juvederm family of fillers are some of the most commonly used products to plump up thin lips or smooth out wrinkles or folds in the face. While Juvederm is considered a temporary filler, its results generally last longer than many other available fillers.

How long does juvederm last?

The exact length of time that Juvederm lasts can differ from patient to patient. However, most patients find that their results last for about 6 to 9 months. At this point, you will begin to notice your lips returning to their pre-treatment volume. The filler may also appear less smooth as it breaks down and is reabsorbed into the body.

Juvederm is a popular dermal filler used to add temporary volume to the lips, cheeks and other areas of the face. Juvederm is often used as a non-surgical alternative to a facelift. Many people see results after just one treatment, but how long does Juvederm last?

Allergan, the manufacturer of Juvederm, cites patient studies that demonstrate its effectiveness can last up to two years with optimal treatment. However, every patient’s needs and skin conditions are different, which means your results may not last as long as someone else’s.

In general, Juvederm is intended for patients who have lost volume in their skin due to aging or other factors. Patients who received Juvederm treatments reported the following results:

Lips: The most dramatic change was in lip size and fullness. Lip lines and vertical lip lines were also reduced significantly.

Cheeks: Cheeks were more voluminous and defined, creating a rounder shape in the mid-face area.

Nasolabial folds: Nasolabial fold depth was reduced by 50 percent on average at six months post-treatment.

Juvederm is a temporary filler that lasts between 6-12 months in the lips, depending on the individual. It varies for everyone and depends on your metabolism and how much filler was used during the treatment. Juvederm can be used to treat lines around the mouth, to contour the chin and cheeks, and to create fuller lips.

If your lips are small and you want a slight improvement, 1 syringe may be enough. However, if you want a more significant change, 1 syringe of Juvederm will not be enough. Note: Juvederm is only approved by the FDA for correction of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds (such as nasolabial folds).

It is rarely appropriate to inject Juvederm into the lips in patients who have not had prior permanent lip liner or lip augmentation with a filler (such as Restylane Silk).

I would say that in general, 1 syringe of JUVÉDERM® may not be enough to produce the lips you are looking for.

I have had patients who have been satisfied with only 1 syringe, but they usually had fuller lips to begin with and only needed a slight touch-up.

I would suggest going to a board-certified plastic surgeon or dermatologist who has experience with lip augmentation and discussing your goals. He or she should be able to give you a better idea of how much filler you might need.

Best wishes!

A “syringe” of Juvederm is 1 mL, which is the same as 1 cc (cubic centimeter).

The amount of product used for your lips will depend on what you are trying to achieve. Some people prefer a more subtle change and others want to have fuller lips. Also, it has to do with how much volume was already present in your lips before the procedure.

If you are looking for minor lip enhancement, then one syringe may be enough. However, if you want fuller lips then a second syringe may be needed.

Best wishes!

There are many different types of fillers and they all have different properties. The Juvederm Ultra Plus XC (which I use) is a thicker, stronger filler that can be used to enhance the lips. You get what you pay for and this filler will last longer than the thinner lip fillers. In my practice, I typically use 1 syringe to enhance the lips and it lasts about 6 months. I do have patients that need 2 syringes but not too many. I think 1.5 syringes is usually plenty for most people.

A syringe is a measurement of volume, not weight. A syringe filled with air has more volume than the same syringe filled with a liquid, but is lighter. The amount of product you need depends on what you are trying to accomplish. A syringe of a hyaluronic acid gel like Juvederm or Restylane would be adequate for lip liner and maybe a mild augmentation, but would certainly not be sufficient for maximal augmentation. Make sure that you see an experienced injector who understands what you want to achieve.

Juvederm is a hyaluronic acid filler, which means that the results are temporary. The results last approximately 6 months and afterward, the lips will return to their pre-treatment state. The good news is that you can have more injections, should you wish to maintain the result.

I recommend undergoing a consultation with a Board Certified Dermatologist or Plastic Surgeon who can best assess your needs and formulate an appropriate treatment plan for you.

It depends on how big you want your lips to be. One syringe is usually enough for just a little augmentation, but not for full blown lips. I like to use at least one and a half syringes, especially if the patient has lost volume there. This will give a fuller and more natural look.
